Maple Natural-Edge Vessel with Multi-Toned Epoxy

This hand-turned maple vessel opens like a bloom. The wide, natural-edge rim spreads outward in an irregular “petal” line, giving the piece a distinctly floral silhouette when viewed from above, as if the form is caught mid-unfurl. From the side, the profile reads as a clean flare rising from a tapered base, then softening into that organic rim that preserves the wood’s original edge rather than forcing a perfect circle.

Multi-toned epoxy moves throughout the piece, settling into natural voids and checking and creating subtle shifts in tone as light changes across the surface. It reads as neutral overall, but with layered variation that keeps the eye moving. The maple itself carries warm honey tones, darker figure, and visible turning lines that reinforce the sense of flow and motion.

Inside, the vessel draws the gaze downward in a smooth, deep funnel, like the center of a flower, with grain and color circling toward the base. The result sits comfortably between functional form and sculptural object: a one-of-a-kind tabletop vessel that feels botanical in spirit, materially grounded, and made for long-term keeping.

Dimensions (W x H): 9.5 x 6.5 in.
