Reclaimed Maple Vase
This maple and epoxy vessel is shaped around what the wood already knew how to be: full of natural cavities, shifting figure, and irregular edges that refuse to look manufactured. Blue epoxy accents the piece, filling and preserving those voids so they remain part of the story rather than something sanded away. The resin adds depth and a sense of captured motion, moving through the maple like a quiet current, revealing new details as the light changes.
The rim reflects the blue epoxy, and that decision is what gives the opening its character. Because the wood is reclaimed, the surface has a natural, lived-in character that feels honest rather than “perfect.” The grain pattern shifts as you move around it, and the form stays visually light even at a taller height. This piece works beautifully as a standalone object, but it also plays well with other materials: stone, ceramics, linen, glass, and metals. Place it on a bookshelf, entry console, office credenza, or a bedside table where you want a small moment of focus.
As a tabletop object, it holds presence without visual noise. Displayed empty, it reads as sculptural. Paired with a minimal arrangement, it becomes a quiet focal point. Either way, it is a one-of-a-kind work meant to be lived with for a long time.
